Yesterday, December 06, 2023, Alphabet, the parent company of Google Mind AI, has released Gemini, in fact 3 different versions (Ultra, Pro, and Nano.) (See also video below.)
The previous Google AI “Bard” has been updated to become Gemini Pro as of December 6th as it will reply if you ask it/him/her/them:
If you’re using me in English after December 6th, 2023, you’ve tapped into Gemini Pro—a sophisticated AI language model from Google that’s trained on a vast body of text and code. I’m ready to serve users in most corners of the globe.
Reply by Bard/Gemini on December 7th to the question: “Are you Bard or Gemini? Or is there no difference?”
Ultra will be fully launched next year and Nano will be used within Google Phones.
Accessing Gemini:
As far as I understand it’s free. Details can be found in the WIRED article How to Use Google’s Gemini AI Right Now in Its Bard Chatbot [Archived]. Here is the relevant paragraph:
How to Access Google’s Gemini Pro
Do you already have a Google account? Using Gemini inside of Bard is as simple as visiting the website in your browser and logging in. Google does not allow access to Bard if you are not willing to create an account. Users of Google Workspace accounts may need to switch over to their personal email account to try Gemini.
